AFTER three years as an exhibition hire venue, Gallows Gallery in Mosman Park last week reopened as an Australian fine arts gallery. To celebrate the occasion, new curator and director Kathryn Stafford last Thursday launched A Taste of What’s To Come; a new exhibition featuring 10 talented Aussie artists.

The event attracted local art lovers and notables including Premier Colin Barnett and Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi. Ms Stafford, with a long history in the art scene, said she was thrilled to adopt the new role although she admitted it was like taking a quantum leap.

Some of her previous responsibilities include helping operate Stafford Studios in Cottesloe with her mother Marlene Stafford and managing the Pilbra Fine Arts Gallery in Karratha. She became the new curator and director of Gallows last week.

The gallery will exhibit artists specialising in painting, sculpture, glass and jewellery design. It is fully booked every month until late 2012. A Taste of What’s To Come runs until July 18th.
